Dr. Anand receives Diversity and Equity Research Award

Dr. Sonia S. Anand is the second recipient of the Health Research Foundation’s Diversity and Equity Research Award from the Health Research Foundation, Innovative Medicines Canada. The award recognizes “excellence in research by outstanding individuals whose work advances equitable participation in health research and access to healthcare in Canada and improves the well-being of all residents, particularly those facing inequities.” Dr. Anand received the award for her work improving the understanding of environmental and genetic determinants of cardiovascular disease in women and populations of varying ancestral origin, and her work to remove social, economic, and other barriers to health care and medicines in diverse equity-deserving populations in Canada.
